ABOUT BAYAN MOHAMMAD
Bayan is a Civil and Structural Engineer currently pursuing a PhD at Durham University, where his research focuses on the decommissioning of offshore wind monopiles, a critical challenge in the transition to sustainable offshore energy. His academic work builds directly on several years of experience across the offshore oil & gas, offshore wind, and nearshore civil infrastructure sectors.Professionally, he has worked on both the installation and decommissioning of offshore structures using installation vessels, and has since expanded into offshore and nearshore projects including wind farms, ports, and coastal civil works. He currently performs site-specific assessments for jack-up barges-evaluating structural strength under environmental loadings, analyzing geotechnical data, and conducting leg penetration studies using in-house tools developed in line with ISO, ABS, BV, and API standards.Bayan also carries out floating stability checks and ensures compliance with naval architecture requirements following IS, IMCA, and IMO standards. As a Temporary Works Designer and Coordinator, he has delivered engineered systems including pile gates, grillage, and seafastenings, and assesses barge hull integrity using structural and FEA tools such as STAAD Pro, SACS, SimSolid, and Tekla, working to AISC, DNV, and ISO codes. He is also an Appointed Person, capable of planning and executing lifting operations through detailed crane lift studies. In addition, he produces plans, layouts, and technical drawings using AutoCAD.With offshore experience on international projects and a strong academic foundation, Bayan brings a unique balance of practical engineering expertise and forward-looking research to the offshore energy sector.
