Research and Design Lead @Fractals Co-Op
We’re a co-op of researchers, designers and technologists working to help clients get unstuck on their social, cultural, and organisational challenges. As a worker/owner I lead user research and service evaluation with our clients, from planning through to delivery. I’ve been facilitating workshops and user research with the Scottish Government, and working with a large children’s charity to provide strategic insight, evaluate services, and improve service evaluation methods. ABOUT OLIVER BATES
Oliver is a researcher and technology designer who delivers multi-stakeholder projects utilising user centred design approaches. If there\'s a carbon, sustainability or complexity thread, he wants to pull it! Having developed software and data science Oliver can rapidly bridge between technical teams, design teams, and senior stakeholders. Oliver brings inclusive, ethical and equitable approaches to research, using systemic design to foresee pain points and opportunities that others miss. He’s worked with public sector, commercial organisations, and charities, delivering research and design for digital, policy and strategy projects including: digital sustainability, vulnerable and marginalised workers, care experienced young people, energy data, transport and logistics, older adults. To ensure that people are at the heart of these technologies and services he blends user research, service design and agile practices to enable rapid prototyping of services and digital solutions.
