ABOUT BASSEM MONLA

Bassem is very experienced in Artificial Intelligence, IT for business and management consulting. He is currently the Practice Leader for Analytics and Artificial Intelligence (AI) at LGS-IBM Quebec, he is also a Professor of Practice for AI and Advanced Analytics at McGill University - Desautels Faculty of Management. A technology passionate, Bassem believes in bridging research and practice and actively pursues knowledge in cutting edge research in AI and Applied Mathematics. Applied Mathematics is coming to an age where in merging with IT, it is bringing the new promises of AI to business. As IBM AI expert, he constantly engages with companies on AI. He is an active member of the Quebec AI community, speaking at conferences and acting as keynote on several occasions. In his internal engagement at IBM, Bassem has set up an AI training program for IBM consultants and architects aimed at infusing the AI knowledge needed to drive the practice and develop the business. As a Practice Leader in AI, Bassem defined six offerings that are already proposed and delivered by a large professional team. These offerings are the following: 1 - Data Strategy & Governance: Develop a formal Data Strategy, vision, architecture and roadmap by assessing the key data use cases and business priorities for all Analytics and AI capabilities. Elaborate a Governance Model for Data including an operating model delivered through a Center of Excellence. 2 - Modern Data Platform: Design and Build, in a use case driven way, a state-of-the-art, cloud-based, elastic and Modern Data Platforms. 3 - BI and Data Visualization: Organize and interpret data into meaningful visualizations and narratives to provide accurate, consistent and useful insights. 4 - Advanced Analytics at Scale: Leverage Machine Learning techniques to combine data coming from internal databases with external data (coming from the environment and the economy) to do forecasts, outlier detection and optimized decisions with full Monitoring, Explainability, Trust and Governance at Scale. 5 - AI for Content Intelligence: Use AI and machine learning to extract a structured content locked within customer complex documents (PDFs, emails, handwritten docs, pictures, scanned forms). 6 - Intelligent Workflows: Use AI to enhance Business Processes. Mine and discover the current processes automatically from the log records. Find backlogs and alternative ways to execute processes.
