ABOUT BASMA MOSTAFA
Basma Mostafa, an award-winning investigative journalist from Egypt, brings over a decade of experience to shed light on human rights violations in Egypt. Her journalistic investigations cover critical issues such as social inequality, sexual violence, discrimination against minorities, and police brutality. Basma\'s bold reports have led to her imprisonment three times. Recently, she established herself in Berlin and is currently working as an open-source investigative journalist with “The Sudanese Archive,” a project part of mnemonic.org based in Berlin that works globally to help human rights defenders effectively use digital documentation of human rights violations and international crimes to support advocacy, justice, and accountability. She is a fellow at Reporters Without Borders and the German Institute of Foreign Affairs. Basma has been awarded scholarships at prestigious institutions, including the Humanitarian Journalism and Data Journalism programs at the University of Cambridge, and the Climate Journalism program at the Reuters Institute. Continuing to contribute actively to both global and local media, Basma possesses extensive experience in producing video stories and hosting and producing podcasts.
