About Basil Mahayni
I have a Ph.D. and more than 10 years of experience leading small and large teams as a director, project manager, and consultant in federally funded water and sanitation projects in complex settings. I have supervised or delivered expert support to water utilities, watershed managers, government institutions, water user associations, community groups, and the private sector to strengthen water resources management, improve utility operations and cost recovery, and build small and medium-sized water system infrastructure. I have effectively managed risk and complex work environments, including supervising remote teams, to deliver results in a variety of areas, including policy development, organizational change and change management, strategic and master planning, non-revenue water loss reduction and cost recovery, infrastructure, customer service and community outreach, and workforce development. I have supervised all aspects of project operations, including budgeting and financial management, human resources, quality assurance and quality control, procurement and subcontracts, and client relationships. I have also generated more than $100M in new funding by leading proposals and winning new projects. I am a strategic thinker, problem solver, and an effective communicator with extensive publications and public speaking for different audiences. I am professionally proficient in Arabic and Spanish, with experience in the Middle East, Africa, South America.
