Portfolio Screening ToolThe Portfolio Screening Tool is an educational/analytical web tool provided by Duke to help educate the public about the complexities of energy generation. The tool matches up 3 weeks of Duke Peak Load Seasonal Data(Summer/Winter/Spring) with the generation data by source of generation (coal/gas/nuclear/solar/wind/etc.). Users are allowed to change the generational mix and submit those changes to a dispatch optimization model which shows how the generational mix serves those peak load periods. The tool has been used by internal Duke modelers/planners as well as members of the NC Utilities Commission, the Governors Clean Energy Plan Task Force, academics, activists and members of the general public.
