ABOUT BASHAR NUSEIBEH

I am a software engineering researcher with over 35 years experience, having held tenured faculty positions at The Open University, the University of Limerick, and Imperial College London.At Imperial College, I served as Founder and Head of its Software Engineering Lab and Director of its Centre of Excellence in Systems Requirements Engineering.At Open University, I served as Director of Research in Computing, and now head the School of Computing & Communications\' Software Engineering & Design (SEAD) group.At Lero - The Irish Software Research Centre, I served as Chief Scientist, contributing to the Centre\'s research profile and strategy across all of Ireland’s universities.Professionally, I have served in a number of senior leadership positions, including Editor-in-Chief of Transactions on Software Engineering, ACM Transactions on Autonomous and Adaptive Systems, and the Automated Software Engineering Journal. I served as Chair of the Steering Committee of the International Conference on Software Engineering (ICSE), and Programme Chair of the ICSE, ASE, RE and SEAMS conferences.I received a number of awards for my research and service, including an ICSE Most Influential Paper, a Phillip Leverhulme Prize, a Senior Research Fellowship of the Royal Academy of Engineering, a Microsoft Research Award, IET Innovation Award in Cyber Security, and the 2025 Harlan D. Mills Award.I was awarded a European Research Council (ERC) Advanced Grant on \"Adaptive Security and Privacy\" and a Royal Society-Wofson Merit Award.My research interests include software/systems requirements engineering and design; security, privacy and digital forensics; interaction design; security and human behaviour; and technology transfer.I am Fellow of The Royal Academy of Engineering (FREng), the Association for Computer Machinery (FACM), the British & Irish Computer Societies (FBCS, FICS), and the UK Institution of Engineering & Technology (FIET). I am also a member of the Royal Irish Academy (MRIA) and Academia Europaea (MAE).
