Duties: Position is accountable for directing and managing the staff and operations of the association to ensure successful accomplishment of strategic goals, on behalf of the Board of Directors and membership. In that roll I’m responsible for grasping and effectively managing the overall mechanics of the ACCA. Knowing how the trains run—how membership relates to meetings, marketing, committees, and communications, and how this all relates to the strategic plan, and how to hire (or fire) the right people to make it all work. Specifically, I oversee our meetings, membership recruitment and retention, board development and corporate sponsors. This also includes the business functions of marketing, finance, human resources and IT.

ABOUT BARTON JAMES

HVACR contractors keep America running. They cool our hospitals, keep our food safe, heat our homes, and make modern life possible. My job is to make sure Washington never forgets it.I\'ve spent my career at the intersection of policy and advocacy—on Capitol Hill, in the Bush Administration at the USDA and SBA, and leading advocacy operations for national organizations including Ducks Unlimited, the Land Trust Alliance, and the National Mitigation Banking Association. I came to ACCA in 2016 as SVP of Government Relations and have served as President and CEO since 2019.Today I lead an organization that represents tens of thousands of HVACR contractors across the country—the businesses that install, maintain, and service the systems that make every building livable. We write the industry\'s national installation standards, develop the best technical education in the trades, and fight every day on Capital Hill and at regulatory agencies to make sure the rules of the road work for the people doing the actual work. The refrigerant transition, A2L safety, workforce development, tax policy, building codes—if it affects HVACR contractors, ACCA is in the room.If you\'re a contractor, manufacturer, distributor, policymaker, or anyone who cares about the future of this industry—let\'s connect.
