About Barry Waldman
Currently Director of the Center for Joint Preservation and Replacement at the Rubin Institute for Advanced Orthopaedics and a part-time clinical instructor in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the Johns Hopkins University Medical School, Dr. Waldman has been with The Centers for Advanced Orthopaedics, OrthoMaryland Division since 1998. He more recently served as visiting Fellow at the Japanese Orthopaedic Association Meeting in Fukuoka Japan and at the Italian Total Joint Symposium, Venice, Italy.Although he practices orthopaedics locally, Dr. Barry Waldman’s influence is felt worldwide, as orthopaedic surgeons from Australia, Japan, France, Italy, the United Kingdom and Belgium have traveled to Baltimore to observe him operate. In 2003, he returned the favor by serving as a visiting professor at the Fourth Annual Symposium on Thrombolembolic Disease in Prague. Dr. Barry Waldman is also well known for developing a minimally invasive hip replacement approach and designing a minimally invasive knee replacement and a revision hip replacement system. He frequently shares his knowledge in these areas by training orthopaedic surgeons from around the country at the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons in Rosemont, Illinois.He has given Grand Rounds in orthopaedic surgery at Johns Hopkins, Massachusetts General, Duke University, Ohio State University, University of South Carolina and Howard University Hospitals, among others. Dr. Barry Waldman has also published research papers on minimally invasive orthopaedic hip replacement, thrombolembolic prophylaxis, knee and hip complications and orthopaedic implant design. He also serves as a President or Capital Physicians Mutual Insurance Compnay, a Risk Retention Group, which insures over 200 practitioners with an innovative approach to risk management in the clinical setting. Dr. Barry Waldman resides in Owings Mills with his wife and twin sons.
