ABOUT BARRY HEMBLING

Barry is a leading legal directories recommended construction lawyer working across a wide spectrum of construction projects domestically and internationally. He has 25+ years in-house and private practice experience of helping clients manage risks so they can meet their cost and time objectives. He acts on projects in the hotel, real estate, infrastructure, energy and transport sectors and on the construction aspects of real estate development finance transactions. He has an established record of offering contentious and non-contentious support from initial contract negotiations, advice on live projects and dispute avoidance. Barry is a board member of the Technology and Construction Solicitors\' Association, a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and member of the Society of Construction Law. He is a construction law thought leader and contributes to several leading texts including Knights on Building Regulations Law, Encyclopaedia of Forms and Precedents and Cockram’s Manual of Construction Agreements. His articles are regularly published, including in The Times and Estates Gazette. He has presented at Chatham House, Oxford and Cambridge Universities, Houses of Parliament, the Third UK-China Rule of Law Roundtable in China, Architects’ Journal Conference and at the Construction Law Summer School. Barry has now been shortlisted for DE & I awards for two consecutive years running (2024 and 2025) in recognition of his work to create inclusive cultures and his role as ambassador for change.
