ABOUT BARRY CHALMERS

Barry Chalmers is an award-winning hospitality professional. He specialises in high-end venue management, training and drinks. He has a detailed knowledge of all things booze, and on trade. He has been at the top of his game for the last 20 years working in some of the most respected venues around the globe. He spent the first decade of his career in London, where he worked and managed some of the best venues at the time such as Soho House, The Player, The Match bars and Lonsdale House. Many of which were award-winning establishments. After several consecutive years placing as a finalist in the bartender of the year finals in London, Barry was finally crowned Bartender of the year in 2005. In 2006 looking for new challenges he relocated to Australia. Initially working for in Sydney for Behind Bars, the largest on-trade consultancy there looking after the marketing, development and training of Diageo’s Core and Reserve portfolio. His primary focus area at the time was on Johnnie Walker and the Classic Malts range. As head trainer of Diageo\'s training program, he helped create and develop module content across all categories, conducted training nationally, trained the trainers and ran brand building events. During his time there they won Bartender Magazine\'s Training program of the year three consecutive times. In 2011 he worked for William Grant & Sons as the Glenfiddich Whisky Ambassador in Soth East Asia. Some of his highlights where helping launch Glenfiddich in Vietnam and Hendrick\'s gin in Malaysia and Thailand. After this stint, Barry decided to take on a new opportunity in Australia Initially opening The Roosevelt, Australia\'s first molecular food and drink matched restaurant. After great success, he was head hunted to work as the Operations and Training and Development Manager at the Swill house group where he created their in-house staff training program. Barry is currently located in Edinburgh.
