ABOUT BARRY CAMP

I have 27 years’ experience in a number of areas of manufacturing, 25 of which are at various levels of management. I have the skills, knowledge and experience to undertake various roles in different areas of a manufacturing business, which are underpinned by relevant professional qualifications. In 2014, I completed a Master’s Degree (MSc) in Manufacturing Leadership at the Manufacturing Institute in Manchester and the Lancaster University Management School, so I am now able to apply academic knowledge alongside practical experience to most aspects of manufacturing – at both a micro and macro level. My previous role of Manufacturing Shift Leader in a pharmaceutical manufacturing business involved responsibility for the day-to-day shift operations of a department with annual volumes of over 5 billion units. As part of this role, I lead a team of 22 direct reports, but I also regularly cover for the Production Manager where I am responsible for over 100 direct reports. I also lead and participate in various business improvement projects, which deliver cost savings and improvements to safety, quality, delivery and performance.I have now moved into the role of Operations Systems Manager, which is a team responsible for supporting Manufacturing and Packaging operations at the site, and also driving improvement activities.MOST RECENT KEY ACHIEVEMENTSCreated, developed and implemented key performance measure for Manufacturing (OEE) by extracting data from the MRP System. Data now being used to identify improvement opportunities. Led project to replace high volume tablet press, from capital requests through to installation and validation.Ultimately my key achievements involve proactively reviewing an operation, and implementing continuous business improvement projects and motivational team building, increasing efficiency and cost effectiveness, whilst showing leadership, persuasive communication, and commercial judgement competencies.
