ABOUT BARRY BROWN

I am a senior Talent, Leadership and Organisational Development Consultant with 20+ years of Human Resources leadership, innovation and succession planning, capability building, career development, and employee engagement expertise. As an Executive Coaching Practitioner and Systemic Leadership Team Coach, I am currently part of the talent development leadership team developing capability at Baillie Gifford. I advise on multifaceted talent operations, leadership and organisational development initiatives, with an emphasis on continuous learning, inclusive talent solutions, executive consultancy, as well as complex, cross-functional transformational change. Having started my career as a regional Training Executive with TUI Group, I quickly realised my ability to build strong relationships, get the best out of teams, and expertly navigate people, process and systems. I then transitioned to financial services and moved to Morgan Stanley in 2006, where I progressed through the organisation from Management Development Associate (2006 – 2009) to Learning and Development Manager (2009 – 2012), Talent Development Director (2012 – 2014) and Head of Talent (2014 – 2015). During this time, I led a series of radical talent acquisition, development, diversity and inclusion strategies, as well as the overall talent plan that supported 1,300 employees across four divisions, including Technology, Operations, Finance and Fund Accounting. I joined Standard Life in 2015, where I oversaw innovative, transparent and flexible people strategies that boost employee engagement, optimise efficiency, usage and output of talent, and are harmonised to global business activities. I take great pride and satisfaction in delivering cutting-edge frameworks and tools that are outcomes-focused and commercially driven to plan, assess, cultivate and lead talent. I am always happy to expand my professional network as well as mentoring others.
