ABOUT BARRI MILLAR
I am a senior charity executive currently serving as Chief Operating Officer at St John Scotland, a national organisation delivering patient transport, CPR training and public access defibrillators across Scotland. We also support Community First Responders and Scottish Mountain Rescue services. My leadership focus is on governance clarity, organisational stabilisation, and building confident executive systems that enable people to do their best work. I am values-led, evidence-driven, and committed to aligning authority with accountability so organisations can perform without unnecessary friction or drama.Previously, I was Chief Executive of the Church of Scotland General Trustees, with responsibility for a national estate of over properties, £550m in assets and a £350m investment portfolio. Across my career, I have worked in asset-heavy, volunteer-led and public-facing organisations, often in periods where calm leadership, cultural repair and disciplined governance were required.I believe strong leadership is rarely loud. It is about judgment, integrity, and creating the conditions in which others can succeed. My aim is always to leave organisations more resilient, better governed, and more confident than I found them.
