About Niu

I am currently a rising senior at Carnegie Mellon University studying Information Systems and pursuing minors in Computer Science and Business Analytics. Through achieving master level in chess after playing competitively since I was about 6 constantly trying to solve complex math and logic puzzles, and more, I have always enjoyed about working with numbers, pattern recognition, and problem solving. In school, that has developed into a passion for data analysis and visualizations, machine learning, software development and other coding projects. Through various working experiences, I have had a chance to embrace these skills and interests. I have applied my love for data driven insights when building Power BI Dashboards for the Orion Team at the NASA Johnson Space Center, learned the ins and outs of applying databases and SQL when helping a local volunteer organization AYLUS build an Oracle Apex Database, and even honed my communication and leadership skills when teaching younger students how to play a nice game of chess. Currently I am further exploring data science and machine learning at Dell Technologies working with Federal Customer Success, and it has been a wonderful experience working with such an accepting team. I look forward to continuing to help solve problems in the real world through software development and/or data analytics.
