ABOUT BARNEY WESTON

I am a Sustainability and Impact Strategist focused on driving transformative change across sports, policy, and business. I am currently working for Sport England as a Project & Relationship Manager, driving Every Move actions related to Artificial Grass Pitches (AGPs).As the Co-Director & Co-Founder of Football For Future I led high-impact sustainability initiatives, including supporting the completion of carbon footprints and sustainability strategies for two Premier League clubs and managing the development of UAE Pro League\'s sustainability strategy ahead of COP28. I successfully scaled Football’s Biggest Climate Campaign during the 2023 Women’s World Cup, guiding 47 players from six nationalities to offset 500 tonnes of carbon emissions and raising over for climate resilience projects. The project garnered social media views and widespread media coverage in The Athletic, Sky Sports, The Guardian, and The Independent, while being recognised by BBC Green Sports Awards and World Football Summit Awards.I am honoured to have received the University of Manchester Presidential Medal for Social Responsibility and to have been nominated as a Sport Positive Next Generation Trailblazer. In addition to my work in sustainability, I’ve delivered lectures at UCL and Oxford, authored opinion pieces in The Guardian and SportsPro, and produced the award-nominated documentary Play On: Football’s Climate Story, which was featured at New York Climate Week and the BFI Future Film Festival. Having lived and worked in six countries and studied in three, I leverage my global experience to drive impactful, cross-cultural change across industries.
