Provide strategic, executive-level leadership internally and externally across modes, disciplines, and levels of government to improve multimodal transportation including biking, walking, rolling, accessibility, and complete streets.• Lead development and evolution of relatively new division within state DOT to integrate active transportation modes into WSDOT\'s culture, policy, and practice; create cross-disciplinary connections and ad-hoc teams to extend reach of small staff; successfully make the case with agency leadership and legislature for staff and budget increases.• Direct new and expanded grantmaking programs awarding ~$150 million per biennium for local and state infrastructure and safety education.• Oversee update to State Active Transportation Plan to provide new direction with focus on the goal of complete, comfortable, low-stress networks for all ages and abilities; plan won state, regional, and national awards; analysis written into state law to prioritize investments. • Track and analyze federal and industry initiatives and formulate related agency policies and practices, provide input, develop messaging and guidance, and participate on national review teams to influence progressive change.• Work with WSDOT and other agencies in problem solving, negotiations, and relationship building regarding active transportation policies and practices, assess outcomes, and frame communication of outcomes. • Serve on policy teams and committees, representing the Secretary and WSDOT at a senior level on national and international agencies, boards, and committees.• During the COVID-19 pandemic led agency response to active transportation use of state routes and trails; worked with Transportation Operations Division staff to develop Safe, Healthy, and Active Streets Program on state routes; coordinated with partner agencies to keep trails open for essential transportation.
