About Barbara Wells

Having been at Minor & Brown for more than 35 years, I have become \"general counsel\" for many clients. We talk about their issues and their goals, and design ways to resolve the issues and achieve the goals. Although this may start from a business and legal framework, the answers have to be practical and customized for that client. I am a business lawyer with an emphasis on federal tax savings. Problem solving is the most exciting part of my practice - especially about business and tax planning, contracts, business continuity and transition planning, key employee incentive planning, employment issues, and mergers & acquisitions. Clients have ideas that they want to pursue, and it is my joy to play with the pieces - what the client wants or needs and the legal and practical ways to achieve those goals. I am also a volunteer puppy raiser for Guide Dogs for the Blind. Rewards? I take a puppy to work and most other places, and I can see that puppy become a delightful companion and helper for someone who will love them forever. I am on my 20th AND 21st puppies now - My 21st puppy is Henny, a young black lab that I am starting for someone else and she will be off to her next raiser mid-summer. My 20th puppy is Montague, a yellow lab who be ready for \"recall\" by early fall. He\'s a great fellow. Many of my pups have become working guide dogs and best buddies for their handlers. Two others became hearing assistance dogs, and one is in training to be a PTSD dog. When they retire they become beloved companions with their handlers or family members, and the ones that do not actually graduate are also contributing to the world in their own ways and are also beloved pets and companions, with several of them living with my friends, and Jax lives with me! Since I would hate to have my ethics questioned, I am avoiding that issue by not listing anything here. Pesky Ethics!
