Barbara Lee VanHorssen is the Founder and Experi-Mentor (Executive Director) of the Momentum Center, a nonprofit grassroots movement to create a stigma-free community. It does that by operating the Momentum Center for Social Engagement to provide social opportunities for people with mental illness, addictions, and disabilities. They host community conversations about social justice and normalize difficult conversations. They are a social entrepreneur, leading cultural immersion experiences and operating a fair trade store and cafe in order to create a self reliant income stream. They empower people to do something about the needs they see. Barbara Lee empowers, challenges and equips people and organizations to build resiliency, strengthen relationships and change the world. She is an expert at helping people and organizations solve social problems without resorting to shame. An award winning speaker, international author, and unconventional consultant, Barbara doesn\'t just explain the complexity of the situations we human beings so often find ourselves in, she provides a process and explains concrete actions you can take today toward becoming more resilient, compassionate, and fully human. Barbara helps people navigate the difficult contours of relationships, social justice, human rights and personal growth. Barbara has committed her vocational journey to advocating for diverse populations, particularly the marginalized and voiceless in our society. She has more than 25 years of experience in health care administration, nonprofit administration and ministry.
