About Barbara K. Ige
As Director of Lifecraft College & Career Pathways at Woodcraft Rangers, I lead a nationally recognized initiative, honored by 2024 Fast Company, that strengthens staff development and retention through mentorship, education, and career advancement.I authored and manage Woodcraft’s $1.125M California Apprenticeship Initiative grant, launching one of California’s first ECE + Expanded Learning Registered Apprenticeship Programs in partnership with East Los Angeles College. Through this work, frontline staff, many first-gen and predominately women of color, can earn their associate + transfer degree while completing paid, mentored, on-the-job learning hours.With 24+ years of experience in academic advising, college access, and curriculum design, I specialize in creating tailored, purpose-driven pathways for working learners. I bring a Ph.D. in American Literature and a lifelong love of teaching to the development of programs that center equity, joy, and belonging.My mission is to help staff uncover their strengths, navigate barriers, and build meaningful careers in education and beyond. I believe that mentorship is a catalyst for transformation, and that everyone deserves access to opportunity, guidance, and growth.My passion is to empower WR staff with the knowledge and skills needed to thrive in a rapidly evolving professional landscape. I advocate for a holistic approach to growth, helping staff identify new opportunities, overcome challenges, and achieve both personal and professional fulfillment. By building supportive programs, I offer WR staff the tools and guidance they need to navigate their academic and career journeys with confidence—laying a strong foundation for their futures and turning their dreams into reality.
