I retired from fulltime work in Technical Communication in January 2021. Since retirement, I have been involved in founding a new movement looking into the issues of aging with Type 1 Diabetes, T1dto100.com. See also am also featured in the 2026 publication Women in Technical Communication, which is a detailed history of the profession from the 1980s to the present. Until January 2021, I was the global Manager of Technical Publications for Schneider Electric Process Automation (formerly Invensys). I was leading a global team of 25+ technical writers across the US, Canada and India, providing user and technical documentation for Industrial Automation products. In this role, I also supported executives with employee-facing communications, including authoring and managing logistics for emails, newsletters, Town Halls, and employee events.I spent a portion of 20••••08 working as an independent consultant in my own business, Barbara Giammona Communications, LLC, providing corporate communications to technology organizations.From 20••••07, I was the Manager of Corporate Information Technology Communications for McKesson Corporation. In that role, as a member of the executive team, I was responsible for communications strategy and content for employees and customers.In 2002, I was the founding manager of an Internal Communications Department in Morgan Stanley’s Corporate IT Department. I was also Morgan Stanley\'s IT Documentation Manager, a role I had held in various forms at various companies since 1988. I am a nationally known leader in this field, having published an award-winning paper on the Future of Technical Communications in 2004, and having presented nationally and internationally on the topic of Documentation Management. STC is the world\'s largest and oldest professional association dedicated to the advancement of the field of technical communication. The Citation on my award reads:\"For her mentorship, leadership, presentations, and research work which lead to an award-winning article in Technical Communication.\"
