ABOUT BARBARA FEWKES

With over 23 years in the pensions industry, I bring significant actuarial, governance and consultancy experience to my role at Dalriada Trustees. At a time when the demand and need for professional trustees is increasing, I\'m thoroughly enjoying my role on the \"other side of the table\".In my previous role, I provided actuarial and consultancy advice to a wide range of UK pension schemes. I was Scheme Actuary to a wide variety of schemes where I built and maintained constructive relationships with trustees and employers alike. This experience is invaluable in my role as Trustee where I\'m be able to help schemes, trustee boards and their sponsoring employers efficiently navigate their way through TPR\'s new Funding Code.I regularly advised trustees in relation to current issues, risk management, scheme governance and scheme funding matters, including assisting in negotiations with employers. I also have significant experience of helping trustees through the buy-in/buy-out, scheme merger and winding-up processes. With an eye for detail, I thrive on understanding and assisting the more unusual scheme set-ups, from benefit underpins to \"quirky\" pension increases, to multiple membership categories and benefit changes.I have a keen interest in assisting trustee boards build and maintain an Effective System of Governance. With significant secretarial experience, I am able to ensure boards focus their attention on the most pertinent matters and prepare accordingly for their meeting cycle.I also provided advice to sponsoring employers, in particular in relation to scheme funding, PPF levy management and corporate accounting disclosures. Understanding the sponsor\'s view in relation to their pension obligations allows me to work collaboratively and efficiently with them to reach appropriate solutions for members and the sponsor alike.My clients and colleagues tell me I provide clear, personalised, no-nonsense advice.
