ABOUT BARBARA SCHWEIER
Barbara is a Design Manager with extensive experience across retail, architecture, and sustainability-led interiors, working with global fashion, beauty, F&B and automotive brands. Her career spans department stores, architectural practices, global retail brands and consultancy, delivering projects across the UK, Europe and international markets.Following her academic studies, Barbara worked as a Design Manager for leading department stores including Fenwick, House of Fraser, and Karstadt, where she managed fashion and beauty brands such as The Estée Lauder Group, Chanel, AllSaints, Ted Baker, Karen Millen, and Laura Mercier. She later joined Grigoriou Interiors, gaining in-depth experience in sustainable and SKA-certified workplace and residential design. At Bisset Adams Architecture, Barbara managed a team of five and led the design rollout and implementation of the Mazda corporate identity across 420 dealerships in Germany. Following this role, she freelanced for respected retail design agencies including Rawls & Co, Barber Design, Twelve Studio, and Allen International (Accenture), working with clients such as Sainsbury’s, World Duty Free, Coventry Building Society, and Comcast Xfinity on retail environments, wayfinding strategies, and large-scale rebranding programmes.Since 2017, Barbara has been Design Manager at Molton Brown, where she leads global store concept development and implementation while advancing the brand’s sustainability agenda. She played an integral role in delivering the Regent Street flagship store, the KAO office (SKA Gold), Molton Brown’s Green Street office and launching the new Scent Pavillion concept in Munich. Her role is also to onboard, visit and oversee new distributor markets across Scandinavia, Eastern Europe, Greece, the DACH region, US, Taiwan, and Japan, as well as delivering flagship openings in Malaysia, Indonesia and Dubai. Before pursuing a creative career, Barbara worked as a medical and mental health nurse in Munich, Sydney, and London. This experience underpins her design philosophy, combining psychology, biophilic principles, and an understanding of human behaviour to create spaces that support wellbeing and meaningful brand experiences.Growing up in a family of architects, engineers, makers, and craftspeople, creativity and material understanding were embedded from an early age. Today, Barbara draws inspiration from natural forms, textures, art, exhibitions, photography, strong brand identities, diverse cultures and travelling.
