Second Servings of Houston is building a healthier community by providing underserved populations with convenient, affordable access to nutritious food that would otherwise go to waste. As Houston’s only prepared and perishable food rescue organization, we pick up unserved and unsold food from food businesses, and deliver it the same day to 150 local nonprofits serving over people annually. Our food helps nourish struggling Houstonians of virtually every age, gender, race, and ethnicity. In 10 years, we’ve already rescued more than 18 million pounds of food valued at $130 million from more than 400 donors…perfectly good food that was destined for the landfill, but is now feeding people.
