ABOUT BARBARA CARBAJO
I have been a hospice and palliative RN and NP for 10 years and counting. I have held positions as a RN case manager, admissions nurse, mid level management, and in senior management. I am a graduate of USC with my Master’s in FNP. We should not be afraid to talk about death. Death is something everyone experiences in their lifetime and as a healthcare industry, we need to increase our comfort level and knowledge in speaking to patients and families about the dying process and end-of-life care. Care should be based on compassion, teaching, and evidence based practice to help patients and families during this transition to ensure comfort, dignity, and effective symptom management. I have a passion for this field of work. I will strive to do my best and continue to grow in my knowledge and skills set to be able to educate not just our patients and families, but other healthcare providers as well. Together, we can make a difference.
