Barbara Campagna has been a preservation architect for 30 years as a leading voice for the integration of historic preservation and green building practices. Her firm, BAC/Architecture + Planning, has work all over the country. Barbara believes that reusing what we have – buildings, landscapes, communities – is the best way to make the biggest impact in controlling climate change. From changing out your light bulbs to renovating an existing building or neighborhood to LEED Platinum standards – it’s all important and BAC/A+P offers consulting services to guide our clients through all the solutions.Barbara formerly was the Chair and Assistant Professor for the Sustainable Interior Environments graduate program at FIT. She developed the curriculum for a new graduate preservation program at University at Buffalo School of Architecture and Planning. BackgroundBarbara has dedicated her career to preserving, remaking and reinventing existing and historic places. She has worked for the past 30 years as an architect, historian and planner whose projects have demonstrated that new technologies can be introduced both artistically and sensitively to preserve our historic resources, while ensuring that all of her work meets the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties. She has been the Executive Director of a landmarks organization in Buffalo, ran her own architecture firm for many years in NYC, served as the Regional Historic Preservation Officer for the Northwest Region of the General Services Administration and from 20••••11 was the Chief Architect for the 29 historic sites operated by the National Trust for Historic Preservation. BAC/A+P brings together all of her experiences – as both a consultant and client – to create a firm that occupies a unique niche in both the historic preservation and green building fields. She is an expert voice in preserving modern heritage.
