ABOUT BARAKAH MULLA
During my senior year of high school, I faced challenges in both AP Calculus and AP Computer Science A, but rather than letting these struggles hold me back, I decided to transform them into strengths by pursuing a degree in computer science, a field rooted in both math and coding. The transition to university life was challenging, but I quickly formed a close-knit support group within the CS community. My friends and I bonded through long office hours spent debugging projects, pushing each other to grow, and opening doors to opportunities across campus. Despite the difficulties of being a commuter, I actively engaged in clubs like Women in Computer Science (WiCS), the Society of Women Engineers (SWE), and especially, Break Through Tech. With Break Through Tech, I secured a 3-week Sprinternship with UIC Innovation, collaborating on a project with OSF Healthcare. This experience introduced me to front-end development, UI/UX design, and the importance of enhancing user experiences to meet client needs. My most recent internship gave me hands-on experience working with stakeholders and understanding how projects come together end-to-end. Being that bridge between technical teams and business goals showed me that Technical Program Management is a better fits my strengths in communication and translating technical concepts than a traditional SWE role.I’m currently looking for part-time co-ops and early career programs where I can continue learning and grow in technical leadership and program management.Feel free to reach me at: B••••••••@gmail.com
