About Justin Banks

As a Structural Designer at McCormick Taylor in Philadelphia, I design highway structures including bridges, retaining walls, and culverts, for clients like PennDOT and Septa. I am dedicated to designing reliable structures and also serve as a licensed Bridge Safety Inspector (CBSI) in the state of Pennsylvania. My motivation stems from a lifelong appreciation for the built environment and a desire to contribute to structural projects of all kinds. This passion was fueled by my upbringing in the city of Philadelphia and travels that exposed me to inspiring structural creations like the Sagrada Familia in Spain and the Atomium in Belgium. My curiosity for how the world works and passion for great design is what drives my work.I believe in strengthening the engineering community through connection and mentorship. I currently serve as the Director of Public Relations for the Philadelphia Chapter of the Structural Engineering Institute (SEI) of ASCE, where I help organize valuable educational sessions and networking events in the region. I am also an active member of the ASCE Younger Member Forum in Philadelphia.I received my B.S. in Civil Engineering from Penn State University and completed a semester abroad at University College Dublin.Outside of engineering, I enjoy playing tennis, traveling, and photography. Photography is a creative outlet for me through which I also provide professional services such as headshots and event coverage. Additionally, I’m a strong AI enthusiast, constantly exploring how the technology can simplify and advance engineering workflows and every day life.I’m always open to connecting with new people, feel free to reach out!
