ABOUT BALJIT THATTI
I have built a strong interest in analytical techniques used in materials and Forensic research. I have supervised both undergraduate and postgraduate students within this interdisciplinary research area, including applying analytical techniques to blood pattern analysis, plasticisers in polymers, aging and degradation studies, sterilisation studies and biomaterial applications.Whilst studying for my PhD in Materials Science, my research gained first prize in the Materials, Minerals and Mining annual conference in 2008, and was also displayed at the SET for Britain road show hosted at the Houses of Parliament.At Kingston University I teach to both undergraduate and postgraduate students on the pharmaceutical science, chemistry, forensic, analytical and biochemistry courses. I am a reviewer for the Journal of Biomaterial Applications, Chemistry Central Journal, Journal of Materials in Medicine. I am involved in designing and delivering outreach activities to inspire and promote STEM subjects, in particular Chemistry related subjects to all ages of learners from primary to secondary education.
