About Bala Gopal Maddala
As a postdoctoral researcher at Ames National Laboratory, I am passionate about investigating the quantum phenomena in nanosystems using advanced optical techniques. With over 6 years of experience in physical chemistry, I have developed expertise in synthesizing and characterizing semiconductor nanomaterials, as well as performing ultrafast carrier dynamics measurements using femtosecond pulsed lasers and time-resolved spectroscopy. My current project involves setting up a superconducting nanowire single-photon detector system (SNSPD) for the detection of quantum entangled stokes and anti-stokes Raman photons. In addition, I am investigating temperature-dependent diffusion dynamics of fluorescent probes in highly viscous solvents, which have applications in separation sciences. I have successfully published multiple peer-reviewed papers in reputed journals and presented my findings at various international conferences and symposia. I also enjoy mentoring and training graduate and undergraduate students in the lab and collaborating with other researchers across different countries and disciplines.
