ABOUT BAKSHO ARKAN

I am an execution-orientated investment management business leader and senior lawyer with over 20 years’ experience driving performance for leading players, including a decade with BlackRock. I have a detailed understanding of the challenges and opportunities in financial services, investment management, public and private markets across regulatory regimes and jurisdictions and the impact of evolving technology and market demand. I facilitate growth, mitigate risk and drive effective change across systems, processes and behaviours in highly complex global businesses, effectively addressing complex operational and legal issues and guiding on business strategy.In my previous role as Chief Operating Officer of BlackRock’s European Credit Business, I played a central role in enabling the scaling of our European credit platform and the growth of private credit fund investments from €1.5BN to €6.5BN over five years. I have devised operating models, driven operational efficiency and reduced costs through offshoring, automation and digitisation, and supported business expansion, transformation and acceleration. I have also championed diversity and inclusion at board level as the founder of the Women Initiative Network’s “Women On Boards” programme, which delivered targeted training for senior women to successfully take on board and NED positions.As a senior lawyer with over 20 years PQE and 18 spent working in investment management, I have developed a very detailed understanding of the global regulatory and jurisdictional landscape as it pertains to investment management. I have led the successful negotiation of M&A transactions, facilitated business divestments and established joint ventures, including with firms in Asia.I have the proven ability to build trusted relationships with key stakeholders both internally and with business partners, service providers, regulatory bodies and client representatives.
