A Global Policy Lead on Google\'s Human Rights Team. I advise senior leadership and teams across Google on the potential human rights impacts of emerging technology, including AI. I conduct human rights due diligence and engage with human rights experts and stakeholders around the world.Over the past 15 years, I\'ve worked on various global security, and technology policy issues. I served as a senior policy operations manager and team lead on YouTube\'s counter-violent extremism and crisis response teams, tackling complex tech-related challenges, primarily the adversarial use of tech to cause harm in the context of terrorism, armed conflicts, and influence operations.My commitment to human rights stems from my early career as a journalist in the Middle East, where I witnessed firsthand the fight for freedom and democracy, and the role of technology in shaping political discourse.
