ABOUT THOMAS BAER
Growing up in regional Australia, I dreamed of working in Formula One, and eventually, with a few detours along the way, I was able to make that dream reality. I now enjoy being able to make a difference in a fast-paced organisation that rewards hard work and innovation.I am currently working at Mercedes-AMG High Performance Powertrains to develop a Power Unit to the 2026 Formula 1 regulations that annihilates the competition. My job is design and develop parts of the ERS package to meet this goal.My job, while full of challenges, allows me to apply all of my experience and education to watch the ERS come together as a compete package. It is one of the best engineering based roles in the world, as any problem we face when we go racing, will be seen and analysed by millions of people. This pressure makes me excited to get up in the morning, and find the best solution to the problem, before the next race or test.Outside of work I enjoy my continuing fitness journey, hanging out with my friends and in general, enjoying the fun side of it all. When the time allows, I also enjoy experiencing all that being based in Europe offers to someone, from the peacefulness of the English countryside, the magic of the Black Forrest and the wonder of the Cathedrals of Italy.
