As a Piping Engineer at IOCL Panipat Refinery, I have been actively involved in the execution and supervision of piping works for critical units including CDU, VDU, DHDT, and other utility systems. My responsibilities encompass the complete lifecycle of piping activities – from planning, material procurement, and fabrication to erection, testing, and commissioning. Key responsibilities include: • Interpreting and reviewing P & IDs, isometric drawings, and GA layouts for field execution. • Coordinating with the design team, vendors, and construction contractors for seamless execution of piping fabrication and erection as per project schedule. • Preparing material take-offs (MTOs) and BOQs based on isometric drawings, and ensuring timely availability of piping materials (pipes, fittings, valves, gaskets, etc.) on-site. • Supervising site fabrication, fit-up, welding, and erection works in compliance with ASME B31.3 and project specifications. • Conducting hydrostatic and pneumatic pressure testing of pipelines, witnessing NDT activities (RT, UT, DP), and ensuring adherence to quality assurance plans. • Monitoring progress, preparing daily and weekly reports, and coordinating with planning and project control teams for timely execution. • Ensuring strict adherence to IOCL’s HSE policies and participating in safety toolbox talks and audits. Notable achievements: • Successfully completed piping works in critical shutdown schedules without safety incidents. • Streamlined material management and reduced delays by optimizing coordination between stores and contractors.
