Spearheaded the adoption and custom tuning of short-term and long-term vertical and horizontal auto-scaling systems for critical ML Infrastructure services such an AI/ML model storage, which hosts Gemini, and systems for collecting human evaluations and surveys for AI/ML model training (crowd-sourcing for AI) in Google Deepmind.Impact: Annually, saving 2 weeks worth of toil and 150+ engineer hourly salaries worth of compute resources.• Drastically improved the reliability and performance of the Spanner database for the crowd-sourcing for AI system by implementing a wide range of improvements (jobs co-location, canarying with automated analysis, database resource management automation, monitoring, alerting, multi-stage schema validation, safe schema change releases).Impact: Annually, saving 1 month worth of toil. Up to 86% median latency reduction. Reduced time-toproduction to just 24h from 168h for database schema changes.• Oncall for AI/ML model storage system that hosts all of Google’s Gemini models. Done incident response and management, writing postmortems, praised by senior SWEs and SREs (peer bonuses). Proposed and consolidated multiple significant infrastructure improvements (performance/reliability-related) based on my oncall experience.• Delivered the kind of work that absolutely needs to be done, but nobody wants to work on – achieved a significant horizontal impact by making the AI/ML storage and crowd-sourcing for AI system compliant with 3 Google-wide security and compliance programs through a long and cumbersome process.Impact: Annually, saving 3 weeks worth of toil.• Earned 2x best project of the quarter awards in our organization (75+ people) and received 4 spot bonuses (2x L8 Director, 2x L6 Managers) and 14 peer bonuses for outstanding work.• Excelled in cross-functional collaboration and knowledge sharing, delivering 5+ tech talks, mentoring a new engineer, and receiving strong positive feedback from senior SWEs and SREs (L5, L6, L7).
