ABOUT AZLYN CATO

As an avid reader, writer and storyteller, it felt almost natural to pursue a path as a journalist. Growing up, I was always accused of playing devil\'s advocate. I would ask the hard questions, only to follow each answer with a curious “why?” During my time at the University of Central Florida, I have developed a deep passion for investigative reporting and uncovering the voices behind untold stories. After delving into the world of multimedia journalism, I also discovered the ability to put my creative eye behind the camera, sparking my love for photojournalism. I am currently an Editorial Intern at Orlando Weekly, a staff writer for Centric Magazine and a reporter for The Charge News, where I previously served as the Diversity & Inclusion beat reporter. I’ve also worked as an undergraduate writing consultant for UCF’s University Writing Center and as an administrative assistant for a private investigation company. I plan to graduate this upcoming semester, in the spring of 2026. With a minor in Women’s and Gender Studies, I’m driven to think outside of the norm and challenge anything considered ordinary.
