About Aziza Ismail

I am an entrepreneur in health-tech with a focus on medically underserved markets.As the daughter of immigrant parents, I\'ve known first hand the challenges that patients with low-literacy and language barriers experience in healthcare. I founded LiteraSeed after a personal tragedy in my family. My 10-year-old cousin lost her life while waiting to see a doctor in the Emergency Department. Better communication between her caretakers and the medical professionals could have saved her life. My passion is empowering people to have the means necessary to independently navigate, access, and advocate for their best healthcare. 1. Co-founder

   Literaseed

   Jan 2019 — Present

   LiteraSeed has developed a visual-based symptom capture and risk assessment tool, designed to empower patients to overcome communication barriers with doctors. We enable early intervention and improve health outcomes in vulnerable patient populations, especially low-income, low literacy, and low health literacy demographics.• Co-led clinical research studies in the Family Medicine, OB/GYN, and Emergency Departments at the largest safety-net hospital in Arizona. Results demonstrate exceptional product performance. Peer-reviewed publication is pending.• Serving as the PI on $1.25M in NSF Phase I and II STTR grants in collaboration with Virginia Tech\'s Machine Learning Lab.• Pre-seed funding of $112k and proudly bootstrapped.
