ABOUT AZIM MAHOMED

On joining GIB I rotated across several asset classes within fixed income markets. I covered sovereign debt in emerging markets and the G7 and corporate credit in European and US high yield markets, focusing on credit analysis and generating trade ideas. I also spent a period on the ABS, Equity, Money markets and FX desk. On the Fixed Income desk, I covered G7 and emerging market sovereign debt, used macro economic analysis to develop trade ideas based on top down approach on Bonds (local and hard currency) and FX. The trades were based on technical, fundamental and relative analysis, to use the cash in the most efficient manner. I also developed several regression based models. On the money market desk I trade a GBP, USD, EUR books and have traded a SAR book, I trade all the books dependant on liquidity, client requirement and my view of rates. Whilst trading the books some of the methods I use are gapping and arbitraging.I trade swaps and repos within the money book, to hedge and enhance the return to the money book. The swaps are traded based on market analysis, sentiment and my view on rates, whilst working within the limits. I previously traded interest rate futures; Short Sterling, Euribor and EuroDollar. I used both fundamental and technical analysis to determine my trading strategy and used a range of strategies ranging from directional trade to box trade. All trading strategies were my own and held up to questioning from senior traders.On the FX desk I traded spot FX and FX forwards, I trade GBPUSD, EURUSD and EURGBP on a spot basis for which I am given a daily trading limit and a daily loss limit.
