About Azhar Qureshi
As a results-driven accounting executive with a distinguished background at a Big-4 National Office, I bring deep expertise in US GAAP accounting and SEC reporting compliance – especially within large, complex multinational organizations. My career is defined by collaborating with cross-border teams, navigating intricate regulatory environments, and advising C-suite leaders on technical matters that shape strategic business outcomes. With a passion for building high-performing finance teams and driving operational excellence, I have led initiatives that improve financial reporting, enhance controls, and ensure best-in-class compliance across global entities. At Smurfit Westrock, I have worked within the CFO organization for over six years primarily as a Technical Accounting and Reporting lead advising on both routine and complex commercial transactions, including but not limited to, debt modifications, derivatives, M&A, restructuring, joint ventures, and various SEC reporting issues. As part of WestRock and Smurfit merger, I played a leading role in overseeing the purchase accounting and accounting policy integration between the two companies. Starting around mid-2025, while working within the CFO organization, I have been assisting with the rollout of a new sustainability data collection system across the global organization to upgrade its non-financial reporting data and processes to bring them at par with financial reporting.Prior to joining WestRock, I worked at EY for almost 13 years and provided auditing, accounting and SEC reporting services to large SEC-registered public companies in the retail, logistics and manufacturing industries. Some of my notable audit clients included Walmart Inc, J.B Hunt Transport Services, Inc, and Tyson Foods. One of the highlights of my professional career was working at EY\'s National Office located in Washington D.C. specializing in SEC reporting matters for almost three years. As part of this National Office rotation, I assisted several clients with reporting issues and helping them resolve their SEC comment letters related to registration statement filings, IPOs and periodic reporting. I also helped in monitoring new SEC comment letter trends and providing training on new regulatory updates.
