The course is based on the experimentation of basic design exercises belonging to the tradition of schools of design such as the Bauhaus, the Yale University School of Art, the Hochschule für Gestaltung Ulm. The course aims at developing basic knowledge useful at different scales in the process of education of a designer. It will teach the core competences that represent the core of this discipline: the skill to attribute a precise configuration to objects, communication, processes and events. The exercises include: Synesthesia by Laszlo Moholy-Nagy, Storytelling by images by Bruno Munari, Antiprimadonna by Tomás Maldonado, Black as colour by Johannes Itten and more.
