ABOUT AYYAH ELAYAN
Committed fourth-year student majoring in Life Sciences at Queen\'s University, propelled by a passionate interest in exploring the intricacies of biology and making meaningful contributions to the field of healthcare. My academic path has been enhanced through various experiences, notably a transformative period in the Harvard Secondary School Program. During this time, I immersed myself in the realms of Cellular and Evolutionary Biology, as well as Biomedical Ethics.As an Undergraduate Research Assistant at Brock University, I collaborated with a dynamic lab team under the guidance of Dr. Aleksandar Necakov. Our focus was on engineering an optogenetic variant of GAL4-VP16, allowing us to manipulate genes and study cellular processes. This experience honed my skills in utilizing light-sensitive proteins to control biochemical pathways, deepening my understanding of molecular intricacies.Beyond the lab, I co-founded and currently serve as the Co-President of QU Glow, a club dedicated to self-care for all students. It brings me immense joy to contribute to the well-being of our community by donating proceeds and products to women’s shelters in Kingston.My skill set extends beyond the scientific domain, encompassing research and analytical proficiency, laboratory expertise, and adept data management. I find joy in collaborative work, fostering effective communication within group settings to bridge the gap between clinical and research teams. With a deep understanding of clinical trial design and medical terminology, I am driven to make a positive impact on the intersection of science and healthcare.I am excited about the possibilities that lie ahead and am open to connecting with like-minded individuals and opportunities that align with my passion for advancing scientific knowledge!
