About Ayse Ulgen

Ayse Ulgen is a Fulbright and Chevening Scholar and a PhD in Applied Mathematics & Statistics from Stony Brook University in New York. Her expertise spans academia, biotechnology, and policy development. She is currently Senior Lecturer at the Nottingham Trent University, a member of the NTU Centre for Computer Science & Informatics and Dept of Mathematical Sciences Bioinformatics and Complex Systems Group. She holds a Masters of Global Management from the Thunderbird School of Global Management, where she was a TIAA and SHARE Fellow -Thunderbird’s prestigious full scholarship and executive mentorship program. Originally from Cyprus, Ayse’s career in big data and biomedical sciences has led her to work and study in six different countries. She is trilingual in English, French & Turkish.Ayse’s strong background in research and consulting led her to a Private Equity internship with the Keiretsu Forum in Paris where she discovered a knack for investor relations and communications in the alternative investment sector. Through her involvement with the 100 Women in Finance she was selected for the CAIA fellowship, and she aspires to an international academic and consulting role in data science, statistical genetics, global public health and management, contributing her expertise in biomedical sciences, big data analytics and biotechnology.Ayse has taught, conducted research, and collaborated with leading universities, including the Harvard School of Public Health, Rockefeller University, Columbia University in NY, INSERM in Paris, and was a Fulbright Visiting Research Scholar at Columbia University. She has held Associate and Assistant Professorship positions at several universities such as University of Southern Denmark and American University of Paris. Her work has been published in peer-reviewed international journals and presented at international conferences. As a Science Officer for the European Science Foundation she led the peer review and expert panel formation for biomedical projects. Ayse is a member of several professional associations including London Mathematical Society, Society for Epidemiologic Research and is recently elected for Council of the Royal Statistical Society.Methodological and creative by nature, Ayse enjoys connecting and collaborating with other professionals in the biomedical, social sciences and biotechnology sectors, and has excellent negotiation and communication skills.
