Assistant Clinical Professor with nearly 15 years of experience leading nonprofits and driving social change in areas including labor rights, housing, civil rights, disability rights, immigrant rights, and healthcare. I specialize in designing and teaching community-engaged courses and programs that bridge community-based work and academic theory, enriching experiential learning for students. Honored to receive the University of Michigan’s 2024 Neubacher Award, the 2021 Provost’s Teaching Innovation Prize, and the School of Social Work’s 2021 DEI Staff Impact Award. Co-creator of the Disability Inclusion and Accessible Design (DIAD) certificate program at the University of Michigan School of Social Work.Appointed by Governor Gretchen Whitmer as the Chair of the Michigan Asian Pacific American Affairs Commission (MAPAAC) since 2020. Serving as an Ann Arbor City Council Member for Ward 3 since 2022, with a proven track record of advancing equity and accessibility in our city, particularly for people with disabilities and other marginalized communities.Earned a Master’s degree from the University of Michigan School of Social Work, specializing in Social Policy and Evaluation, and hold a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt from the University of Michigan College of Engineering, focused on healthcare administration.My professional journey includes extensive international work across over 25 countries and five continents.
