ABOUT AYDIN JAFARI

I’m a Research Associate in the Data Analytics & Signal Processing group at Fraunhofer HHI, where I architect and deliver next-generation network solutions across optical transport, software-defined networking, cloud-native, and edge environments. My work spans the design and automation of OTN and ROADM networks—implementing closed-loop, telemetry-driven control—and the development of disaggregated optical line-system controllers via open-hardware APIs. I build Teraflow SDN controllers and P4-programmable data planes to enable intent-based, zero-touch provisioning and multi-domain orchestration (optical, IP, and cloud). By leveraging streaming telemetry (e.g, Kafka) and digital-twin simulations, I drive AI/ML-powered AIOps for predictive analytics, self-healing networks, and comprehensive service assurance. On the cloud-native front, I containerize microservices with Docker and Kubernetes in 6G-ready ecosystems and integrate Time-Sensitive Networking for secure, low-latency services. My expertise with advanced data models and protocols—including YANG, gNMI, OpenConfig, and Open ROADM—ensures seamless multi-vendor integration and tight alignment with OSS/BSS billing and orchestration flows. Passionate about energy-efficient, zero-trust architectures, I explore dynamic spectrum management in flex-grid optical networks, impairment-aware automation, and disaggregated line systems, all while continuously expanding my toolkit in edge computing, LLM-enabled policy generation, and green networking to bridge the gap between cutting-edge research and practical, scalable deployments.
