About Ayca Ariyoruk

Race Against the Machine. Who wins depends on what we invest in and incentivize now. Good humans first, and better products will follow. I am a global policy strategist and a cross-cultural ethics advisor in artificial intelligence. I track emerging policy frameworks and regulation trends and cross-check their compatibility with the spirit of innovation, democratic values, and human rights. My background is in political and behavioral sciences. I worked at the intersection of foreign policy, education, and technology. For nearly a decade, I built partnerships across colleges and universities globally at Soliya. This wonderful organization was the first to imagine, deploy, and scale video conferencing as a social technology. Soliya proved that when paired with social and emotional awareness, critical thinking can make technology an effective ally to engage with political and cultural differences. As an early advocate for responsible social technologies, I championed privacy and inclusion, balancing safety, growth, and learning. Before tech, I was deeply involved in the efforts to reform the UN in the early including the reform of the UN Security Council. I contributed to the negotiations that led to the creation of the UN Human Rights Council. I look at AI ethics and sociotechnical issues from geopolitical risk, international security, and social stability point of view, as well as from an educational, learning, skills, and future of work, and markets/commercial points of view. My human-centric approach is grounded in human rights and challenges the conventional \"masculine\" theories of power and intelligence. My work has appeared in the New York Times, The Financial Times, BCC, Radio France, Toronto Star, Voice of America, Business Channel Turkey, the Independent-Uganda, China Daily, Xinhua Net, and the Christian Science Monitor.
