HSM Configuration and Key ManagementConfigure network settings and secure communication channels for HSM.Apply vendor-recommended security hardening Generate, load, and rotate cryptographic keys in compliance with PCI PIN, PCI DSS, and NIST SP 800-57.Enforce dual control and split knowledge for all manual key operations.2. Compliance & AuditEnsure adherence to PCI DSS Req. 3.6.6, PCI PIN standards, and NIST best practices.Maintain detailed audit logs and prepare evidence for internal and external audits.3. HSM Administration, Firmware and Patch Management Monitor HSM health (tamper alerts, battery status, firmware integrity).Validate HSM firmware integrity and apply updates as per vendor and compliance requirements.Apply firmware updates and validate cryptographic module integrity.4. Access ControlReview and manage user access to HSM systems.Validate multi-factor authentication and role-based access controls.5. Security MonitoringAnalyze HSM transaction logs for anomalies.Respond to alerts and escalate incidents per NFCU security policy.6. Backup & RecoveryPerform secure backups of key material and configurations.Test recovery procedures regularly to ensure business continuity.7. Documentation & ReportingUpdate SOPs for key management and HSM operations.Provide daily/weekly status reports to compliance and security leadership.8. Incident ResponseInvestigate tamper events or unauthorized access attempts.Coordinate with other cybersecurity teams
