ABOUT AYAH ALI-AHMAD
I’m a recent graduate of UC Berkeley, where I studied journalism and digital media. As a reporter and editor for The Daily Californian, I led critical coverage of local government, police accountability and social movements—building a foundation in investigative and public affairs reporting rooted in community impact and accountability. This summer, I’m part of the 2025 Dow Jones News Fund cohort as a business reporting intern. After completing a training intensive hosted by Bloomberg\'s Paul Albergo at American University, I’ve joined Oakland Voices to cover economic equity and underrepresented communities in the Bay Area. In the fall, I’ll be interning with KQED’s Newscast team, contributing to daily radio news and learning the ins and outs of public media reporting and production. During my time at Berkeley, I developed strong multimedia skills through coursework at the UC Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism, including video production, digital storytelling, and live radio reporting with KALX. I also built technical fluency in data journalism, including Python for data visualization, and industry-standard tools like Adobe Creative Cloud and Google Workspace. My work bridges deep reporting with digital fluency to produce high-impact stories across platforms. I’m especially interested in how media, data, and public records can be used to hold power to account. I’m currently seeking reporting or multimedia opportunities for spring 2025 and beyond—particularly in investigative, local, or business journalism. Feel free to reach out: a•••••@berkeley.edu
