ABOUT AYA ALMASRI

My name is Aya Almasri, and I am currently pursuing a Political Science major at UCLA with a second major in Public Affairs on a pre-law track. I am Syrian American and from the Central Valley. In Political Science, my studies center on how race and ethnicity affect politics, an extremely relevant aspect of law and the judicial system. In Public Affairs, my studies hone in on how public policy, communications, economics, and statistics can be used in an interdisciplinary approach for policymaking and social justice. So far, I have interned in the reproductive justice policy field, foreign affairs, personal injury law, and criminal law. I am passionate about using my voice to create social change which I hope to continue in my future career. At UCLA, I am involved in She’s the First which raises money for women’s education in developing countries, and Ignite which is fighting to make rape test kits available on campus.
