About Awo Kankam
As a global clinical operational senior executive and clinical researcher, I leverage 18+ years of experience in drug development to translate, lead, and execute early- to late-phase clinical development across startups, midsize to Fortune 50 including Novartis Vaccines, GSK, Astra Zeneca, Moderna, and Gates Medical Research Institute. I strategically fuse expertise in program management, clinical quality assurance, risk management, ICH-GCP and regulatory compliance, and data management with clinical operations and financial oversight to deliver significant organizational and business results. I’m a culturally aware international leader with a strong record of building and leading high-performing global teams in the Americas, Europe, APAC, and Africa, having lived and worked in Germany, UK, and the US. • I direct all clinical operations for the Abpro Corp. portfolio and hold the Interim Project Management function simultaneously. I drive strategy and execution of all clinical studies as well as strategic and operational aspects of the COVID-19 therapeutics and prophylaxis program. • I built and led my global team to execute the complex, sensitive and business critical post-acquisition transition of global clinical operations of the influenza portfolio (26 global trials) from GSK to Seqirus, and its CRO partner after the acquisition of Novartis Vaccines by GSK Vaccines. • For Gates Medical Research Institute, I drove the strategic and operational aspects of a Measles and Rubella Microarray Needle Patch program. I developed a feasibility tool with scientific, cGMP and GCP compliance components for Controlled Human Malaria Infection trials. • I built the XBiotech CQA function and team from ground up, while developing and leading implementation of GCP and GVP Audit Programs in the US and Europe, improving GCP compliance. • My therapeutic areas include infectious diseases, vaccines, oncology, dermatology, cardiovascular, and rare diseases.
