About Awais Farooq Roy

It is the ‘why’ behind my work that fuels my motivation and helps me find a sense of play in whatever I do!Over the course of my career, I’ve worked in a wide range of roles including marketing, communications, content creation, curriculum design, facilitation, technology management, and knowledge management. It all began with my first job in the development sector, where I had the opportunity to work for something meaningful, and I’ve been striving to align my work with my vocation ever since.Before returning to the American Red Cross - International Disaster Response team in my current role as Training Coordinator, I worked with The Chronicle of Higher Education and the American Red Cross in communications and knowledge management. My career began at Amal Academy, a Stanford University initiative focused on soft skills development for under- and unemployed youth. Over five years and six roles, I transitioned from the hands-on work of a Design Associate to the leadership-focused position of Senior Marketing Manager. I learnt and grew a lot over those years and helped bring over applications to Amal Academy.From where I am in my career today, I’m grateful to find a sense of play in my work while enjoying the journey and trying to do and be better every day!
